Updates
Many people have asked me to list some of the new stuff that I have added to the site so they can easily tell what all the new features are on the website so I decided to do just that and also make a video to show everyone all the new features.
I made an update list for things that I plan to add in the next year. If you want to check that out you can HERE.
The most recent changes for the site include the following:
July 31st Updates
- The Immortal Game- The first ever immortal game features some amazing sacrifices by Anderssen in a game that you don't want to miss.
July 18th Updates
- Game of the Century: Fischer vs Byrne- At the age of 13, Bobby Fischer displayed to the world that he was a force to be dealt with and showed us one of the great masterpieces in chess history.
July 12th Updates
- Play Chess Online- Many people have asked that I have my own chess application on my website that people can play so I have added just that.
- Three/Four New Sections and New Features Coming- The site is expanding in the near future. As you can see, I have already added a place to play chess on the website. In the near future I will be launching a section where you can get DVDs covering the videos on the website, along with some not on the website yet. A new video section on the website will be coming out going over my own games with my analysis. The last section is possibly a forum where everyone can discuss chess. One of the new features I hope to add to the site will be a new interface for all the practice boards and puzzle boards
July 5th Updates
- Famous Chess Game Analysis: Lasker vs Capablanca:- Two of the greatest chess minds of the early 1900's, Lasker put on a masterful performance to defeat one of the hardest players in the world to beat. We analyze this game and talk about some of the mistakes the Capablanca made and why Lasker was able to win.
June 24th Updates
- Chess Commentary: Kasparov vs Topalov- In what is considered the greatest chess game ever, we look at Kasparov's Immortal game, one that any chess player can learn a ton from.
- Chess Openings: Londong System- The London System is a great opening for those beginning chess players that want an easy to way to develop their pieces correctly and not get confused with crazy and wild tactical lines that many chess openings have.
- Chess Software:I always get asked what software I use for my videos and where people can get them. I use Rybka/Aquarium and you can get it at www.chesscentral.com and www.chessok.com
- Chess DVDS: Just wanted to update everyone and let you know that the chess dvds will be available by the end of July. I've had difficulty getting burner/software/dvds/cases/etc. but that's all squared away so for those who were asking for a time frame, it'll be end of July.
June 11th Updates
- Baze vs Palmer: Commentary: We continue our series on famous games and look at a game between two players rated around 2000. This game is filled with chess lessons so hope you enjoy and learn a lot.
May 24th Updates
- Chess Openings: Nimzo Indian Defense-The Nimzo Indian Defense was one of the most requested videos so I wanted to add it to the website. It's a very strong defense that is played on all levels.
- Chess Openings: Fried Liver Attack-This is one of my favorite openings and one of the most aggressive openings that you will see from white. White looks to sacrifice a minor piece very early on in the game in hopes that he can dominate the black king early on.
- Middle Game Tactic: Pinning the Knight-It is very important to know when you should pin your opponents knight down with your bishop and when you should not.
May 16th Updates
- Middle Game Tactic: Sacrifice Bishop- This middle game tactic talks about what needs to be in place to successfully sacrifice your bishop at h7.
- Middle Game Strategy: Attack F7- Since f7 is such a weak square for black we talk about what things you should look at in your chess game to determine when you should focus on the f7 square and when you should not.
- New Layout- I changed the layout for the openings. I usually don't change the layouts of pages that often (mostly just add content) but I thought the new design will make it easier to navigate so thought I'd try it out. Hope everyone enjoys the small changes that are being made.
May 2nd Updates
- Queen's Indian Defense: This solid defense from black is a great choice if your opponent plays d4 and chooses not to play the Nimzo-Indian lines which are very common. This defense is great if you are both passive or aggressive.
- Queen Amidala Trap: This trap derives from the Queen's Indian Defense and looks to punish white if he defense his king with the wrong minor piece which is a very common occurance.
April 28th Updates
- Kings Indian Defense-As the most requested opening to add to the site I have done just this. This solid defense against the d4 opening from white is one of the most sound defenses black has.
- New Video Section: Commentary on Famous Games Section:Many people asked that I go through the famous games section on the website and give my own commentary of the games so that you could get a good idea of why top players make the moves that they do. If the feedback is good I will continue to add much more.
- All New Page Names: You may not be able to tell but almost all the webpages have new names. I have tried to 301 redirect all the old pages to the new ones, but you really shouldn't notice any change at all. Just wanted to let everyone know if there are programmers out there that may have noticed.
