Updates
The Chess Website as many of you have seen has really grown and taken off in a short amount of time. The site has grown from 10 pages to over 200 pages of great chess material.
Many people have asked me to list some of the new stuff that I have added to the site so they can easily tell what all the new features are on the website so I decided to do just that and also make a video to show everyone all the new features.
The changes for the site include the following:
February 13th Updates
- Blackmar-Diemer Gambit- One of the most ambitious gambits in chess, white looks to give away his e4 pawn which is very rare on the 2nd move in exchange for rapid development.
- Halosar Trap-This trap derives from the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit and more specifically the Ryder Gambit line which is the very aggressive line where white looks to give up an additional pawn in exchange for a nicely placed queen and an open d file for his rook.
- New Design- As you may have noticed I spent some time to change the design of many of the pages. Hopefully it looks a little cleaner. I do all the coding myself so if there are any problems I do apologize. Just send me an email and I'll look into it.
- New Site Launched- Many of you may know, I launched a new site www.themathworld.com where I will be teaching math. I will cover math tricks for everyone and then more specifically will cover specific subjects. The site will be update regularly much like the chess website.com
January 30th Updates
- Blackburne Shilling Trap- This trap occurs as soon as the third move in the Italian game and is one of the easiest traps to fall for.
- Alekhine Defense- This hypermodern defense against the e4 opening from white looks to give up center control to white's pawns in hopes to counter attack with minor pieces and undermine the overextended pawns and regain center control.
- Medium Puzzle Hints- Many people have asked for hints for the medium puzzles so I have added that.
January 2nd Updates
December 15th Updates
- Feedback- There is a new feedback section where I am asking people to give me some feedback about the site.
- Updated Open vs Closed- One of the most popular videos on the site I decided to remake since the old one had poor sound quality. Every now and then I will remake some of the other videos that I made a long time ago and might not have the best sound quality.
- Grunfeld Defense- One of the defenses that continues to grow in popularity, the Grunfeld Defense is a very strong opening against the d4 from white.
- End Game Strategy and Tactics Lesson 1- I am starting up a new series on End Game Strategy and Tactics. I think it's very important to have a strong end game so I will be making a lot of videos on different things you should look out for in the end game. It should be a great series.
November 23rd Updates
- New Middle Puzzle Section- For those players that love puzzles I have added a new section that is still not as hard as the hard section but more challenging than the easy section.
November 19th Updates
- Budapest Gambit- A very interesting respond to the common d4 from white, black looks to give up his e5 pawn in exchange for many complicated lines for white that involved mulitple traps.
- Benko Gambit- One of the most respected gambits in chess, black looks to give up his b and a pawns in exchange for an aggressive attack on the queen side.
- X-Ray- The X-Ray is one of the common and yet powerful moves in chess. It uses all your pieces to their highest potential by indirectly attacking specific squares.
- Smaller Files- I have redone a lot of the images so that the site runs much faster. Currently the home page loads in about 1/8 of the time. In the future all the pages will get a complete overhaul as well. Hopefully every can tell a difference at least in the homepage for now.
- Broken Links- There were a few broken links on the site that have now been fixed. For those that pointed these out I appreciate it.
November 2nd Updates
- Updates to Pawn Opening Description- There were a few things that needed to be added that we left out.
- Puzzle Section-There were two puzzles that people found a solution in fewer moves than listed, which is pretty awesome. I have gone back and changed to the lower amount of moves so sorry if you figured it out before, there is a faster way.
- Petrov Defense- One of the most common defenses against e4, Nf3, I've posted a page on the Petrov Defense.
- Marshall Trap- Since this trap comes from the Petrov Defense I thought it was only fitting that I add it to the site since I added the Petrov Defense.
October 10th Updates
- New Easy Puzzle Section- Everyone loves the puzzle section but many of the fans of the site have had a hard time with some of the hard puzzles, seeing as how they are extremely difficult so I have added a new section for those that want to try their hands at some easier puzzles.
- New Hard Puzzle Hints- There has been hints added for hard puzzles 11-20.
- Evans Gambit- There has been an update to the openings with the addition of the Evans Gambit.
- Mating Patterns 1 & 2- Two new pages have been added to the middle game strategy page. We discuss the common mating patterns that every chess player should be aware of.
- Donation Button- Many people have asked if they can support the website by giving a donation. The website is completely free and will stay that way, but with web hosting and buying new equipment and software to make better videos and a better website I do appreciate any and all support.
- Contact Page- The contact page has been updated with some more information about myself instead of the previous page that just had my email.
September 25th Updates
- Brand New Section- Chess Basic that discusses everything someone should know when learning chess.
- Updated Navigation Bar- The old navigation bar had half the sections and didn't work on half of web browsers.
- Social Networks- Now you can easily share this site on social networks with the buttons at top of page.
- Hints for Puzzles- The puzzle section is very popular but the puzzles are hard. I have added hints for the first 10 puzzles for everyone. Hints for the other puzzles will be added in the future.
- Updated Google Search- Near the top of each page is an upgraded google search so anytime you want to search for something you don't have to leave the page, you can immediately search from the chesswebsite.
- New Chess Traps- There has been a few additions to the Chess Traps page.
- More Openings- Many requests have come in for more openings and so more openings have been added. I am working on requests as they come in but if there is something you want added let me know and I will make sure it gets put up.
- More Detail on each Page- There have been requests for extended info on some of the pages, including the openings and additional games for each opening so on many of them, many additions have been made and more information is now available.
- Famous Games Have Names- Instead of simply saying Famous Game #1, it now says who the game was played by. Now you can easily go straight to the games you want to see without going through each one.
- Updated Code- This may not mean much to many people but the code for the webpage is much easier for web browsers to read so it should run even smoother than before.
Most of the changes and additions you see are from requests from fans of the site so feel free to email me at thechesswebsite@gmail.com if you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions for the site.
