Sicilian Defense: Nyezhmetdinov-Rossolimo Attack (B30) · 1-0
Kevin’s Commentary:Anytime a player gets creative against the solid sicilian lines I take notice and that’s exactly what Bartel did in this game. White was able to open up the a file and swing his rook over to the king side to join the assault on the black king. Because black couldn’t get his own a-rook involved, white was able to sacrifice his rook to continue his attack. This shows that it’s not always about the number of pieces you have, but the number of pieces you have in the attack.
