Baze vs Palmer

Michigan Open 2004 · Four Knights Game: Spanish Variation (C48) · 0-1

Kevin’s Commentary: Black does an amazing job of playing the four knights game, deciding not to castle early on in the game, instead waiting for the h file to open up and then deciding to castle queen side, which left white hopeless. The deciding move came on 18 when black sacrificed his rook for the bishop that was outpost on g5 and was pinning down the knight to black’s queen. When white took back with his pawn, white’s position is hopeless after black castles.
