The Fantasy Variation is an aggressive line for white in the Caro Kann Defence from black. White plays 3. F3 and hopes to take a lead in controlling the center of the board.
Black can continue with his plan to play a solid defense with e6 or he could decide to gamble and take with his pawn on e4. White can now respond by taking with his f3 pawn or try to bait his opponent by playing Nf3, looking to give up another pawn in material to have a massive advantage in development.
Black can fall into many traps in this opening and can make many Caro Kann players very uncomfortable.
