The Grand Prix Baku is the first tournament in a series of four where the top two chess players of the entire series will be invited to the 2016 Candidates Tournament. The four tournaments in the grand prix will be October 1-15, 2014, October 20 – November 3, 2014, February 14-28, 2015, and May 13-27, 2015. With so many talented players looking for their chance to play for the World Championship it’s extremely important to lock up one of the few spots for the Candidates Tournament.
Players will get to compete in only three of the tournaments and will be given points based on how the finish. Below are matches and commentary from the first leg in the Grand Prix.
