Trading Part 1

Many chess players have no idea when they should trade. Some players will trade whenever given the opportunity, while others will try to keep all of their pieces as long as they can. Both of these mindsets can really hinder the growth of a chess player.

There are very critical and important times when a chess player should trade and there are other times when a chess player should not trade. Some key points when you should trade include: when you have a material advantage, when you have a spacial disadvantage, when trading will allow one of your other pieces to become more valuable, and when you are trading off one of your opponents very good pieces. In the first trading video we will discuss why it’s important to trade when you are up in material.
